Patent awarded for our FilmTeq 250 sealing unit
Patent awarded for our FilmTeq 250 sealing unit
A patent is an award for outstanding innovation. This makes us all the more proud that our self-developed sealing unit for the FilmTeq 250 stretchbanding machine has received this recognition. With our innovative sealing method, we are setting new standards in stretchbanding, providing our customers with a more efficient and sustainable solution for packaging pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
Traditional stretchbanding machines have the disadvantage of sealing the film from below. This causes the sealing table to heat up, which can lead to product warming and therefore requires active and complex cooling. Our patented top-down sealing method avoids these challenges while optimizing the entire sealing process through passive cooling, a compact design, and easier handling.
The challenges of traditional stretchbanding machines
In traditional stretchbanding machines, film sealing is performed from below, which poses several challenges:
- Product heating: The sealing table is unwantedly heated during the sealing process, which can lead to undesired heating of the product, a critical concern in industries like pharmaceuticals and medical devices, where temperature control is vital.
- Space requirements: To counteract the heating of the sealing table, it requires active, and thus complex and space-consuming, cooling systems.
- Mechanical complexity: The sealing bar and clamping bars require intricate mechanical coupling and synchronization, especially with high machine performance.
Our innovative top-down sealing technology
Our newly patented sealing system for the FilmTeq 250 stretchbanding machine introduces an innovative top-down sealing method that addresses these challenges and brings several advantages:
- Separation of sealing bar and table: The sealing bar is separated from the sealing table, preventing unnecessary heat transfer to the product and eliminating the need for an overly complicated cooling system.
- Passive cooling of sealing seams: Since the sealing bar's heat source is located at the top, away from the product, active cooling of the sealing table is unnecessary. With our technology, passive cooling of the sealing seams is sufficient.
- Reduced space requirements: By eliminating the need for active cooling mechanisms around the sealing table, our design allows for a more compact machine setup, saving valuable space in production environments.
A key feature of our patented sealing unit is the mechanically coupled movement of the sealing bar and clamping bars. This design not only requires just a single servo drive but also creates optimal movement coordination, which significantly reduces the setup effort. Our customers benefit from easier handling and considerable time savings during machine adjustments.
Enhanced mechanical coordination with servo technology
A key feature of our patented sealing unit is the mechanically coupled movements of the sealing bar and clamping bars. This system significantly improves the machine’s efficiency and ease of use:
- Single servo-driven motor: Unlike traditional systems that require multiple drives to synchronize the movements, our design uses a single servo-driven motor to control both the sealing and clamping bars. This simplifies machine setup and operation.
- Optimal movement coordination: The coupling of movements ensures an ideally corrdinated sealing and clamping process, guaranteeing consistent sealing quality with minimal mechanical wear.
- Simplified adjustments: Machine operators no longer need to manually adjust and synchronize multiple movements when setting up the machine, reducing setup time and potential errors.
In addition, our 'reversible plate' function for the sealing and clamping bars doubles the lifespan of these components: by flipping the bar, it can be used twice as long. This solution promotes sustainability and reduces operating costs for our customers.
Sustainability and cost savings
In line with our commitment to sustainability and cost efficiency, the FilmTeq 250’s sealing unit includes a reversible plate function for both the sealing and clamping bar:
- Double lifespan: By simply turning the plates over, the lifespan of the sealing and clamping bar is doubled, significantly reducing the need for replacements and downtime.
- Promotes sustainability: This extended lifespan reduces waste and the need for frequent spare parts, supporting both environmental sustainability and cost savings for our customers.
